Adam Portable 3-tier Keyboard Stand Review
I have been a keyboard musician since the 1970s. I started on the big Hammond B3 and spinet M3 and later the L100 and M100 series. All of those sound best through an authentic Leslie tone cabinet. As the years have gone by I have added electric piano, various Korg synthesizers, Oberheim, Casio and many other keyboard instruments to my rig. I am now working more and more with software based synthesizers that add a lot of sound and range both to recording and performance work.One of the toughest problems any keyboard musician faces is how to rack the instruments for live performance. Most people use the two in front and one or more to the side approach. I have always found that setup to be limiting as I can't pivot fast enough to move back and forth between the keyboards while I am playing music.
A friend of mine got me the Adam 3-Tier Triple Keyboard Stand. I was initially dubious about it because it is different from anything I have used in the past. It was great to be able to play three keyboards at once, right in front of me. The support arrangement of the horizontal pieces looked unusual to me as well, and I worried about the support factor for expensive keyboards.
I have used the stand now for four years and it is simply the best three keyboard solution out there. The stand itself is a really rugged construction. The support is more than ample. I have a heavy Hammond XK-3 onthe bottom rung, followed by a Korg Trinity, and a Korg Radias on the top tier. What is great about this rack is you can move each horizontal level up and down to make the keyboard setup just perfect. Each individual keyboard shelf can be angled as well so the setup perfectly matches where your arms and hands want it.
I have tried valiantly to duplicate the features of this amazing rig through combining components of more conventional racks and extensions. Forget it! Don't even bother! This is one rack rig every serious keyboard artist must have!
