On delivery of my kalimba, I noticed the outside finish is quite nice, the inside was largely ignored; the chrome (I think) on the keys is flaking in spots; and the instrument is BADLY out of tune. I didn't expect it to be perfectly tuned, but having keys that should make a scale in order go up-up-down and two keys that are the same tone really shows they don't care much about their work.
Still, it is well constructed and I'd rather tune it than send it back and try another.
